Best Food Fair: Colorado Chocolate Festival

“Like chocolate? Then you’ll love the Colorado Chocolate Festival, which turns Mother’s Day weekend into one long, miasmic cacao high, as hopped-up chocoholics snake from booth to booth tasting chocolate of every ilk, from dark and pure to sweet and milky, gooey to waxy smooth, with wine, with nuts, infused with tea, slathered on cakes, baked into brownies and artfully rolled into rich, melty truffles. Last year, there were chocolate contests, baking demonstrations and a Miss Chocolate crowning, and Willy Wonka strolled the room; there was even a Mother’s Day gift market of non-chocolate items.”

Demo Descriptions:

Dark Chocolate Truffles ( Friday, 7pm )

Learn how to make truffles using cream, chocolate, and flavorings. These truffles are very simple and elegant all your friends will love them. Make them for gifts or just for your family to enjoy. You will learn how to make different truffles starting with a base recipe. – Pastry Chef Dorian O’Connell

Chocolate Box ( Saturday, 1pm)

Learn how to make a chocolate box with the materials you have at home. Different garnishes and techniques will be shown. If you can temper chocolate you can make a chocolate box but I can teach you tricks to making a chocolate box if you have never tempered before. – Pastry Chef Dorian O’Connell

Is Chocolate REALLY Good with EVERYTHING?  ( Saturday, 4pm )

Denver’s wackiest chef and food artist tests the limits of your love for chocolate!  Requires 3 Taste Tickets to sample! Or you can just watch the fun! Sponsored by the Denver County Fair!  www.denvercountyfair.org !

Kids under 12: FREE

Purchase Taste Tickets for Samples. 12 tickets for $10 ; 25 tickets for $20 Each vendor decides on their own sample sizes. Taste Tickets allow us to pay the vendors for their generous sampling.
