Best Open Class (bars, tiles and anything else!)
and the Truffle Trifecta with a $500 Grand Prize
This contest is open to all culinary professionals. You may enter as many of the Chocolatier Championship contests as you wish, and you may have up to 10 entries per category. Please fill out one entry form for each separate entry. Entries must be the original creation of the entrant on the entry form.[/box]
- Entries must emphasize chocolate, in ingredients and appearance. White chocolate may be used. The Colorado Chocolate Festival reserves the right to refuse any entry that is deemed inappropriate.
- Entry fee is $10 per entry.
- Competition Entry Forms and Fees should be received by May 8. However, we will accept a limited number of entries onsite – Saturday between 11am – 1pm.

Dana Cain, 5061 S Stuart Ct., Denver, CO 80123. - Prizes for the Truffle Trifecta are as follows: Grand Champion – $500 and certificate; Best Traditional Filling – $100 and certificate; Best Non-Traditional Filling – $100 and certificate. The first place prize in each non-truffle category is $100 and a certificate.
- Entries must be delivered on-site and checked in between 11am – 1pm on Sat., May 11. Entries will be stored in a secure area.
- Entries should consist of 5 servings. A serving would be enough for a judge to have at least 3 bites or swallows.
- Best chocolate design will be judged on visuals, so individual servings are not required – Just one entry is fine.
- Judging will be done by regional food critics and chocolate experts (TBA) and awards will be presented Saturday on our Main Stage at 2pm. Entries (except as noted) will be judged on flavor, texture, originality, appearance and skillful use of chocolate.
- Entrants are asked to be present – or to have a representative present – during the awards presentation from 2:00 – 2:30 pm.
Chocolate Cake Competition
Categories:
Wedding Cake ($500 prize) – Birthday Cake ($500 prize) and Cupcake ($100 prize)
Cakes must emphasize chocolate, in ingredients and appearance. White chocolate is fine, too. Non-edible decorations are also permitted. Base of the cake must not exceed 3 ft in diameter.
- Entry fee is $10 per cake. You may enter up to 10 cakes.
- This competition is open to professionals and amateurs. Cakes must be the original creation of the entrant on the entry form.
- Competition Entry Forms and Fees are due by May 8. We will accept a limited number of entries onsite between 3 – 5 pm on Friday.

Dana Cain, 5061 S Stuart Ct., Denver, CO 80123. - Entries must include a Display Cake and a Tasting Cake. Display cakes may include Styrofoam “dummy” layers. Tasting cakes will not be judged on appearance. Just deliver the equivalent of 5 servings, to complement and support your entry.
- Judging will be done this year by food critics and experts (TBA). Cakes will be judged on craftsmanship, appearance, originality, flavor, texture, presentation, and skillful use of chocolate.
- Judging will take place on Friday, and the winner will be announced Friday night, May 11 at 8pm on our Main Stage.
- Cash prizes and certificates will be awarded in each category.
- The Colorado Chocolate Festival will provide clothed and skirted display table space for your cake. If you wish to add draping or decoration around your cake, please do so.
- Business cards and brochures may be placed with your cake only after the judging is complete and the winner is announced at 8pm Friday.
- Check in and set up your cake between 1 – 3 pm on Friday, May 10. Cakes must be removed from the show between 6–8pm on Saturday, May 11. Any cake not retrieved by 8pm on Saturday, May 12 will be eaten by the Festival staff.
