- CHOCOLATIER CHAMPIONSHIPS -

 

5 Categories

Best Fudge  - Best Toffee - Best Molded Chocolate

- *new category* Best Free-Style (bars, tiles and anything else!)

and the Truffle Trifecta with Three Prizes

 

- This contest is open to all culinary professionals. You may enter as many of the Chocolatier Championship contests as you wish, and you may have up to 5 entries per category. Please fill out one entry form for each separate entry.   Entries must be the original creation of the entrant on the entry form.

 

- Entries must emphasize chocolate, in ingredients and appearance. White chocolate may be used. The Colorado Chocolate Festival reserves the right to refuse any entry that is deemed inappropriate.

 

- Entry fee is $5 per entry to our vendors, and $15 per entry to outside entrants. Each entrant who is not a vendor at the Chocolate Festival receives a pass for two to the Saturday Chocolate Festival and judging (a $14.00 value).

 

- Competition Entry Forms and Fees are due by May 1. You may register and pay online at www.chocolate-festival.org (see CONTESTS page) or you may send entry forms and fees to: Dana Cain, 5061 S Stuart Ct., Denver, CO 80123. Fax: 303.794.6439.

 

- The first place prize in each non-truffle category is $50 and a blue ribbon. Prizes for the Truffle Trifecta are as follows: Grand Champion - $100 and blue ribbon; Best Traditional Filling - $50 and ribbon; Best Non-Traditional Filling – $50 and ribbon.

 

- Entries must be delivered on-site and checked in between 11:00am - 1:00 pm Saturday, May 8. Entries will be stored in a secure area.

 

- Entries should consist of 8 servings. A serving would be enough for a judge to have at least 3 bites or swallows. Molded Chocolates will be judged on visuals, so individual servings are not required – Just one entry is fine.

 

- Judging will be done by local celebrities (TBA) Saturday afternoon on our Main Stage from 2:00 - 3:30 pm. Entries will be judged on flavor, texture, originality, richness, appearance and skillful use of chocolate. Molded Chocolate entries will be judged on appearance.

 

- Entrants are asked to be present - or to have a representative present - during the judging from 2:00 - 3:30 pm. Winners will be asked to go onstage with our celebrity judges to receive their prizes.

 

- Entrants are responsible for removal of their entries, plates, etc. by 4pm. Items may be picked up from our holding room (where you checked in). Items not picked up become property of the Colorado Chocolate Festival.

presents the Colorado Chocolate Festival's

Chocolate Wedding Cake Competition

The Grand Prize Winner will receive:

1) $200 cash

2) Free ¼ page ad in Rocky Mountain Bride Summer/Fall 08 issue ($900 value)

3) online listing link at www.rockymountainbride.com ($350 value) and

4) winning cake will be pictured in the magazine’s "Toast of the Town" section.

Prizes also awarded for: Best Traditional Wedding Cake and Best Contemporary Wedding Cake! Details below!

Rules and Guidelines:

-  Cakes must emphasize chocolate, in ingredients and appearance. White chocolate is fine, too. Non-edible decorations are also permitted. Cakes must be at least two tiers tall. Base of the cake must not exceed 3 ft in diameter. The Colorado Chocolate Festival reserves the right to refuse any entry that is deemed inappropriate.

 

-  This competition is open to professionals and amateurs. Cakes must be the original creation of the entrant on the entry form. 

 

- Competition Entry Forms and Fees are due by May 1. You may register and pay online at www.chocolate-festival.org (see CONTESTS page) or you may send entry forms and fees to: Dana Cain, 5061 S Stuart Ct., Denver, CO 80123. Fax: 303.794.6439.

 

-  Entry fee is $25 for 1st cake; $10 each additional cake by same entrant. You may enter up to 5 cakes. Each entrant receives a pass for 2 to the Friday Night Preview Gala (value $24).

   

-  Entries must include a Display Cake and a Tasting Cake. Display cakes may include Styrofoam “dummy” layers. Tasting cakes will not be displayed with the competition cakes, and will not be judged on appearance. Just deliver the equivalent of 5 servings, to complement and support your entry.

 

-  Judging will be done this year by actual brides! Our team of newlyweds and brides-to-be will judge cakes on craftsmanship, appearance, originality, flavor, texture, presentation, and skillful use of chocolate. Judging will take place on Friday, and the winner will be announced at the Preview Gala Friday night, May 7 at 8pm.

 

- Prizes: Best in Show winner will receive: 1) $200 cash prize; 2) Free ¼ page ad in Rocky Mountain Bride; and the winning cake will be pictured in the magazine and on the magazine’s website.  Best Classic Wedding Cake and Best Contemporary Wedding Cake will receive ribbons and will be pictured in Rocky Mountain Bride magazine.

 

-  The Colorado Chocolate Festival will provide clothed and skirted display table space for your cake. If you wish to add draping or decoration around your cake, please do so. Business cards and brochures may be placed with your cake only after the judging is complete and the winner is announced at 8pm Friday.

 

-  Check In and set up your cake between 3 – 5 pm on Friday, May 7. Cakes must be removed from the show between 6 – 8pm on Saturday, May 8. Any cake not retrieved by 8pm on Saturday, May 8 will be eaten by the Festival staff. J
